Join us at the Ridgefield Library to watch The King of Laughter/Qui Rido Io (2021), (2hr 13m.)
Description: Beloved Neapolitan actor and playwright Eduardo Scarpetta devoted his entire life to the theater, achieving success with timeless works such as "Miseria e nobilta." However, everything he worked for seems lost in 1904, when he's drawn into a nasty legal battle that could compromise his freedom of expression.

In a Chicago junk shop, three men plot to rob a man of his coin collection, the showpiece of which is a valuable “Buffalo nickel.” These high-minded grifters fancy themselves businessmen pursuing legitimate free enterprise. But Donny, the oafish junk shop owner, Bobby, a young junkie Donny has taken under his wing, and “Teach,” a violently paranoid braggart, are merely pawns caught up in their own game of last-chance, dead-end, empty pipe dreams.

Brookfield Theatre presents "A Flea In Her Ear," a new version of Georges Feydeau’s farce by David Ives, directed by Tony & Eric Bosco-Schmidt. It has been named the greatest of French farces and perhaps the greatest farce ever written.
Raymonde Chandebise (Rebecca Annalise) suspects that her husband, Victor (Gus Bottazzi), an insurance executive, is secretly having an affair. To find out, she and her friend Lucienne (Anya Nardone) write him an anonymous love letter suggesting a rendezvous at the Frisky Puss Hotel. Thinking the letter was intended for his coworker, the gigolo Tournel (Liam McGrath), Victor sends Tournel off to make the rendezvous in his place. Lucienne’s jealous Spanish husband (Andrés Indrovo) finds the letter, recognizes his wife’s handwriting, and takes his pistols to the Frisky Puss hoping to catch her in the act. Meanwhile, Victor’s nephew Camille (Colin McLoone) tries to warn everyone about the mix-up, but his ridiculous speech impediment prevents anyone from understanding him. At the Frisky Puss, the drunken bellboy looks just like Victor adding even more confusion. With some people trying to hide, some trying to be found, and others appearing unexpectedly - the hotel staff (Dean Alexander, Michele Rosa, and Arianna Alagna) frantically try to keep order, while the gun wielding jealous husband scares everyone into running back to the Chandebise home where the vortex of confusion spins even faster until finally, Victor and Raymonde are reunited and all is forgiven. The cast also includes Daniel J Mulvihill Jr, Desi Kelley, Vincent D'Ambrosio, Rick Stewart, and Jon Barker.
Shows are at the theatre on Route 25, next to Brookfield Library, on February 21 thru March 15 on Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. Reserved seating tickets are $25 for adults and $20 for students and seniors 65 and older. A Concise History of Western Music with Dr. Harold Rosenbaum
Sunday, February 23, 2:00 pm REGISTER
Learn about the history of Western Classical Music from ancient times to the present with Dr. Harold Rosenbaum and the Ridgefield Library. This program will discuss the formation and evolution of musical genres including opera, symphonies and concertos, plus the circumstances that led to the creation of these works. Musical demonstrations at the piano will highlight and display excerpts of many of these works and demonstrate the evolving styles that composers from each period first abided by, and then expanded, thus changing history and influencing others to do the same.
Dr. Harold Rosenbaum is a retired professor from The Julliard School and three other colleges. He taught Music Appreciation and many other courses during his 45-year teaching career. He founded the all-professional choir, The New York Virtuoso Singers, now in its 37th season. He has conducted 600 world premieres, has toured with choirs 29 times in Europe, and has conducted about 1900 concerts in his 55-year career.

The world is filled with bad art, but not all bad art makes it into the Museum of Bad Art.
This Museum is on a mission to find art that is so bad, it’s actually good. Based in Massachusetts, MoBA proudly showcases work in three galleries, one in Somerville and two in Brookline.
Founded in 1994, the volunteer-run museum has received attention from around the world, and critics from The New York Times to Harvard University have expounded on its influence. The Museum’s collection is drawn from a variety of sources and has hosted shows in New York City, Santa Fe, Canada and Taiwan. Its aim is not to mock the artists, but to make a point about the world of art criticism.
Join us as Chief Curator Michael Frank tells us more about MoBA’s mission, its growing influence and why these galleries are worth a visit!

They are available online at www.BrookfieldTheatre.org or at the box office. There will also be a free preview on Thursday, February 20 at 8 p.m. for area senior citizens.

A Flea In Her Ear
