Exhibition: "America the Beautiful"
Celebrate one year of Anonymous Society in Redding, CT with an afternoon of art, conversation, and community. Join us on Saturday, July 12 from 12 to 4pm for light refreshments and an in-gallery artist talk at 2pm, featuring Sonja Langford and Rachel Volpone, whose work is currently on view.
Free and open to the public. All are welcome.
Anonymous Society is pleased to present If / Only / And / Then, a dynamic new exhibition featuring a dynamic new exhibition featuring work in painting, mixed
media, and ceramics by Sonja Langford (North Carolina / Connecticut), Faye Pamintuan (Philippines / Texas / New York), and Rachel Volpone (Connecticut). Running from June 5 through July 20, 2025, the exhibition traces how the language we carry—spoken, unspoken, imagined—shapes the course of our lives, offering a means to reauthor the self in moments of both fierce protection and quiet surrender, in pursuit of deeper becoming.
This show centers on the moments that define us—the decisions, disruptions, and relationships that shape identity in all its complexity. The featured art works engage with transformation, personal mythology, constructed identity, and the radical authorship of self in systems that have long erased, commodified, or distorted the female voice. If / Only / And / Then doesn’t seek resolution—it charts direction, carving out space through bold, deliberate acts of imagination.
Through diverse media, Langford, Pamintuan, and Volpone offer work that resists containment. Whether abstract, narrative, or conceptual, their practices ask how we locate ourselves—and each other—within shifting cultural landscapes. The exhibition invites viewers into an evolving dialogue about identity, memory, and possibility, offering a space where complexity is not only acknowledged but honored.
Join us at Anonymous Society for the opening reception on Thursday, June 5, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
Anonymous Society is an independent exhibition space committed to showcasing contemporary art that challenges convention, amplifies creative voices, and fosters critical dialogue.
Gallery hours are Thursdays and Fridays from 12 PM to 5 PM, Saturdays from 10 AM to 2 PM, or by appointment. For more information, visit www.anonymoussocietygallery.com or email info@anonymoussocietygallery.com.

As part of Poetry in the Garden's 2025 season, "Declarations 2025 - Resilience & Rage: Voices from Marginalized America," KTM&HC and Ridgefield Poet Laureate Emerita Barb Jennes are proud to host a series of poetry workshops in the month of July. Participants can learn, discuss, and create with some of the country's most prominent poetic voices.
On Monday, July 14, National Book Award winner Martin Espada's workshop will focus on the use of poetry to emphasize with, and advocate on behalf of, immigrants. From Martin: "We'll explore the reality that migrants share a common humanity with us. We'll dig down into our own immigrant histories and search for parallels with contemporary struggles. We'll confront the fact that, historically, the same people others would deport have always done the 'dirty work' in our country. We'll read poems and, not least, we'll write in the garden."
Workshops are open to writers of all experience levels/genres. Registration is limited to 25 participants per workshop, so reserve your spot early!
Tickets go on sale this spring. Special discounted rates are available for high school and college students - inquire at info@keelertavernmuseum.org.

Voices from Marginalized America - Immigrant Voices
July 14, 2025 · 7 p.m.
Walled Garden
Free
Commemorate the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence with Poetry in the Garden's fifth season. Each Monday evening in July, nationally acclaimed poets will share works that explore how historically oppressed communities have been denied the Declaration of Independence's promised "inalienable rights."
On July 14, Poetry in the Garden: Voices from Marginalized America welcomes two poets whose work reflects the tenuous experience of immigrants and refugees: National Book Award winner Martin Espada, an outspoken advocate of Latino rights, and Joan Kwon Glass, a diasporic Korean American poet. The evening will open with a live performance of Brazilian jazz by Arthur Lipner and Nanny Asis. A book signing will follow.
Free for all! Bring a lawn chair or blanket to enjoy the readings, held in KTM&HC’s beautiful walled garden. In the event of inclement weather, the reading will move inside the Garden House. Ample parking on-site.
Poetry in the Garden 2025 is generously supported by Ridgefield Library, Books on the Common, The Fountain Inn, A.C.T. of Connecticut, and the Manhattanville University MFA in Creative Writing.

Poetry in the Garden: Martin Espada and Joan Kwon Glass
Commemorate the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence with "Poetry in the Garden - Resilience & Rage: Voices from Marginalized America." Each Monday evening in July, nationally acclaimed poets will share works that explore how historically oppressed communities have been denied the Declaration of Independence's promised "inalienable rights."
On July 14, “Poetry in the Garden” welcomes two poets whose work reflects the tenuous experience of immigrants and refugees: National Book Award winner Martin Espada, an outspoken advocate of Latino rights, and Anni Liu, a young poet whose Border Vista was a New York Times Best Poetry Book. The evening will open with a live performance of Brazilian jazz by Arthur Lipner & Nanny Asis. A Q&A session and book signing will follow.
Free for all! Bring a lawn chair or blanket to enjoy the readings, held in KTM&HC’s beautiful walled garden. In the event of inclement weather, the reading will move inside the Garden House.
Ample parking on-site.

Martín Espada has published more than 20 books as a poet, editor, essayist, and translator. His newest book of poems is Jailbreak of Sparrows; his previous book, Floaters, won the 2021 National Book Award and a Massachusetts Book Award. His other collections include Vivas to Those Who Have Failed, The Republic of Poetry, and Alabanza, the title poem of which has been widely anthologized. Espada has received the Ruth Lilly Poetry Prize, the Shelley Memorial Award, an Academy of American Poets Fellowship, the PEN/Revson Fellowship, a Letras Boricuas Fellowship, and a Guggenheim Fellowship. A former tenant lawyer, Espada is a professor of English at UMass-Amherst.
Born in the year of the metal goat, Anni Liu is the author of Border Vista (Persea Books), which won the Lexi Rudnitsky Prize and was a New York Times Best Poetry Book of 2022. She’s the recipient of an Undocupoets Fellowship, a Djanikian Scholarship from the Adroit Journal, and residencies at Civitella Ranieri and the Anderson Center. She's an editor at Graywolf Press and lives in Philadelphia.
"Poetry in the Garden - Resilience & Rage: Voices from Marginalized America" presents Martin Espada and Anni Liu
Join us for the fifth season of POETRY IN THE GARDEN! This summer, the themed series features poets whose work gives voice to historically marginalized Americans. On July 14, we proudly present National Book Award winner MARTIN ESPADA and JOAN KWON GLASS - two acclaimed poets whose work reflects the tenuous experience of immigrants living in the diaspora.
The evening will begin with a performance of Brazilian jazz featuring NANNY ASSIS and ARTHUR LIPNER. A book signing follows.
Please bring a lawn chair or blanket. In the event of rain or a heat emergency, the readings move inside the Garden House. Fully accessible. Ample parking on site.

Under the direction of Gale Alexander, this intimate, poignant, and darkly humorous play invites audiences to witness the raw beauty of ordinary lives unfolding in extraordinary ways.

Join us for an outdoor conversation between artists Martin Beck and Elle Pérez, moderated by The Aldrich’s Associate Curator, Eduardo Andres Alfonso. Taking place in the Museum’s newly renovated Sculpture Garden—weather permitting—this talk will explore the intersection of each artist’s practice and dives into the current exhibition, Martin Beck: … for hours, days, or weeks at a time, on view until October 5, 2025.
Martin Beck is known for his research-driven installations and projects that examine the social, political, and material conditions of exhibition-making and display. Elle Pérez’s intimate photographs center on queer identity, vulnerability, and the quiet power of everyday moments, often blurring the line between portraiture and personal narrative.
Enjoy drinks and coffee by Ursa Roastery in the Sculpture Garden from 3 to 5 pm, with a cash bar and conversation that begins at 3:30 pm. The talk will include an audience Q&A—an invitation to listen, reflect, and connect.
