Description
Join us on Tuesday, June 3 at 7 pm via Zoom for John Cilio's fascinating talk on John Warner Barber, one of Connecticut's early historians and illustrators who published over 60 books and produced hundreds of engravings chronicling American towns and scenes before photography. His illustrations grace the most successful books published during the 1800s. Born in Windsor, CT and living most of his life in New Haven, Barber was active in the Anti-masonic, Temperance, and Abolitionist movements. His illustrated pamphlet covering the Amistad trial supported their freedom.
