Description

Join us Sunday September 8th at 1pm as we continue our Sunday Speaker Series with Oliver Tobin!

Oliver Tobin is a former dancer with the Martha Graham Dance Company, where he performed leading roles in Appalachian Spring, Clytemnestra, Diversion of Angels, El Penitente, and Embattled Garden, among others. His off-Broadway acting credits include The Kentucky Cycle, The Lesser Magoo, Nirvanov, and Tallahassee. As a Regisseur of the Graham repertoire, Oliver has restaged and directed works such as Celebration, Diversion of Angels, Episodes, Panorama, and Maple Leaf Rag. In 2019, he reimagined and choreographed Martha Graham’s American Document (1938), which premiered in Los Angeles. As the Director of Teens@Graham, he developed and taught technique and choreography programs for NYC performing arts schools, including Talent Unlimited High School, Frank Sinatra School of the Arts, Bronx Dance Academy, Urban Assembly School of the Arts, and the Martha Graham School. As a dancer and cultural ambassador with Battery Dance Company, Oliver led modern dance choreography workshops throughout Germany and Africa. He has also served on the faculty at Adelphi University, Kaatsbaan, LaGuardia High School, and The Martha Graham School. In 2016, Oliver was named Director of Martha Graham Resources, overseeing the archivalprocess of Graham's extensive collection, including costumes, production elements, images, ephemera, and personal items from 1894 to 2021. He relocated the physical collection to its permanent home at the NYPL Dance Division in January 2020. Additionally, he implemented a digital database to provide global access to Graham's legacy, facilitating licensing projects across theaters, film, television, galleries, museums, and educational institutions. Oliver graduated from the American Musical & Dramatic Academy, The Sivananda Yoga Institute, and Empire State College. He resides in Sherman and is the founder and owner of HOMORGANIZED, a home and business organizing company.
