The String Quintet in C Major β scored for two violins, a viola, and two cellos β is among the handful of greatest chamber works ever. Composed in September of 1828, during the final weeks of Schubert's life, the Quintet was the composer's last instrumental work and ranks among his greatest accomplishments. With his decision to use a second cello, he revolutionized the art of writing for strings, producing sounds that no one had ever created before in a small string ensemble
Performing are Susan Rotholz, flute; Michael Roth, violin; Jane Chung, violin; Richard Wolfe, viola; Eliot Bailen, cello; and Sarah Hewett-Roth, cello.
Tickets $30. Children ages 16 and under free. As seating is limited, we recommend purchasing tickets in advance at https://www.scemusic.org/ticketsandprograms. Tickets will be available at the door, subject to availability.

Join us for a unique experience blending Charlie Chaplinβs βThe Kidβ with live music β a silent movie like youβve never seen before!
The Danbury Music Centre presents
Danbury Vaudeville Orchestra under the direction of Michael Bank will be playing a live musical soundtrack for Charlie Chaplinβs 1921 silent film classic The Kid at Greenwood Features in Bethel, CT on Sunday, August 10, 2025 at 3 pm.
Chaplinβs The Kid is perhaps the first dramedy, or as he puts it, βA picture with a smile β and perhaps, a tearβ. Chaplin was at the height of his artistry and popularity when he spent over a year producing this timeless masterpiece, which clearly held deep personal resonance for him. The comedy and drama unfold as Chaplinβs Tramp character adopts an abandoned waif played by Jackie Coogan (a talented child star who much later regained popularity as Uncle Fester on the Addams Family TV show).
The Danbury Vaudeville Orchestra is an eight-piece group composed of members of the Danbury Music Centre. The film score for The Kid has been newly compiled from authentic silent film cues by Michael Bank, who assisted in scoring silent films for the AMC channel.

Turn Towards Bright
An Exhibition at Anonymous Society
July 24 β August 30 | Opening Reception: July 24, 6β8 PM
Turn Towards Bright is a group exhibition centered on perception as an intentional, active gesture. Featuring the work of Becky Bailey and Anna Schwartz, the show blends painting and sculpture to create vivid encounters that encourage stillness, awareness, and presence.
This is not brightness as surface or spectacle, but as a force: clarity, vibration, a moment of encounter. The works donβt retreat into silenceβthey assert themselves, drawing the viewer into the act of seeing itself.
Through material, form, and color, Turn Towards Bright offers a kind of perceptual clarity that is both intimate and electric.

Hours: Thursdays and Fridays from 12 to 5pm and Saturdays from 10 to 2pm or by appointment by emailing info@anonymoussocietygallery.com

Location: Anonymous Society
Dates: July 24 β August 30
Hours: Thursdays and Fridays from 12 to 5pm and Saturdays from 10 to 2pm or by appointment by emailing info@anonymoussocietygallery.com
Opening Reception: Wednesday, July 24, 6β8 PM
