The exhibition Karen Neems: Orchestrated Realities features digital and mixed-media collage artworks by Neems that contain "orchestrated realities and perceptual puzzles." We hope you will join us for the artist's reception on Saturday, April 26th from 2 pm – 4 pm, which is free and open to the public. We'll have art, conversation, and light refreshments. The show runs during our regular business hours 8:30 am – 5 pm Monday through Friday from April 14th – July 3, 2025.

Karen Neems is an artist based in Stamford, Connecticut who has had numerous solo and group exhibitions at galleries and museums in the Northeast. Last year, she was among ten photographic artists included in an exhibition called In/Sight at the Carriage Barn Arts Center in New Canaan. Whether she is creating collages digitally or cutting and pasting prints and other media, Neems says she chooses “to use photography to explore the relationships between images I observe and record, rather than for its documentary aspect.”

The Ridgefield Library is pleased to announce a new solo art show featuring the work of Dina Belyayeva, entitled The Travel Journal. This exhibit will be on view from May 16th through June 14th in the Lower Level Gallery.  

All are invited to meet the artist at the opening reception on Sunday, May 18th from 2:00-4:00 pm. Light refreshments will be served.

Dina Belyayeva is a New England-based, Russian-born contemporary realist painter. She is a member of art associations in Connecticut and Rhode Island. Her works received awards at competitive juried exhibitions and found homes in private collections in the US and internationally. Learn more.

Exhibition Statement:

Life is full of interesting twists and turns. We travel to far-away lands, trying to find inspiration and solace, travel with companions to share the joy of discovery, cross oceans to see the loved ones and run away from loss and sorrow. The cliché of enjoying the journey is as true as the significance of the destinations we reach and the places we see and experience. What we find in those places and in ourselves will be the invisible load that will shape the road ahead.

See what you can accomplish by taking responsibility over what kinds of thoughts you think. With just one second, one breath and one thought of changing your perspective you can realign your well-being to a more peaceful, happy mindset.

Michael Bard - Sax

Michael has been playing the saxophone since he was 8 years old after being bewitched by the sounds of the jazz greats, notably Charlie Parker, Dexter Gordon, John Coltrane, and Sonny Rollins. He has performed with the New York All-State Jazz Ensemble and The University of Michigan Jazz Group as well as several smaller jazz combos in the Ann Arbor area. Over the course of his career, he has played with the Temptations, the rhythm and blues band, Incognito and has worked in groups with Phil Woods, trumpeter Tom Hagans and bassist Steve Laspina. His teachers include Eric Alexander, Dave Tofani, Bob Sheppard and Joel Frahm. In addition to this musical journey, he is a physician in Danbury. He has been living in Redding for more than 20 years. Expect to hear an eclectic mix of Bop, Afro-Cuban, Latin, Straight Ahead, Modern and Fusion jazz styles. He will be joined by some of the top jazz musicians of the Greater New York area who will bring their own talents and experiences to the concert.

We're sorry, there are no refunds after tickets have been purchased. In the event of a pandemic, rain, snow, or other forms of weather which prohibit a performance, the performance date will be postponed and rescheduled for another date within a reasonable amount of time. If the new date is postponed, a future alternate date will be picked at the discretion of Bethel Jazz and the musical artist. The ticket holder will be notified of postponements, cancellations, and rescheduled dates via email. Tickets are non-refundable and may be transferred to another person in the event a purchaser cannot make the rescheduled date. In the event, an artist cancels a date, and Bethel Jazz is unable to reschedule the artist, Bethel Jazz reserves the right to provide a substitute performer of equal quality without notice to the ticket purchaser. If a date is canceled and not rescheduled, Bethel Jazz will provide a refund (in some cases minus the Eventbrite fee) or credit for another performance at the choice of the ticket holder. Bethel Jazz will always do its best to accommodate for changes in seating, table sizes, or changes to tickets.

Gallery 25 is an artist-run gallery featuring 25 members working across all genres. Along with our exciting exhibitions, we invite you to take part in our workshops, live demonstrations, artist discussions, and photography walks!

We welcome you to explore, create, and be inspired!

Running your first 5K is 100% achievable, regardless of your fitness level, as long as you have patience, persistence, and motivation. Of course, it also helps to have a good training plan to follow.

Participants will train with a structured approach to gradually increasing their endurance and speed; ensuring you’re making steady progress toward your goal and a smile when you cross the finish line!

This program would help new runners get into the runner mindset and routine of being able to successfully participate in the New Milford Road Race in July.

Registration for this program also includes registration for the New Milford Road Race on Saturday, July 26th. You do NOT need to register for the road race separately.

Requirements: Comfortable clothing, sneakers and water

Come play music, recite poetry, tell a story, or show off another talent!

Keep in mind this is an all ages event in a public venue. We trust you to make good choices about appropriate material.

Join author Randy Becker at the Ridgefield Library on Thursday, June 5th at 7:00 pm for the book launch for his new book, Perryburg: An Autobiography of a City, an urban, mosaic history of a Rust Belt city.

Not a bland recitation of dates and facts, but rather an engaging weaving of lives, Perryburg engages the reader with people and lives that might feel real, familiar, and personal. Becker will be interviewed by Ridgefield Poet Laureate, Ira Joe Fisher, who calls Perryburg “a grand read.”  Please register.

Becker is a retired Unitarian Minister turned writer who has also penned The Venice Stories, Reclaiming the Soul of Your Faith, and It’s Always the Little Things. He lives in Ridgefield with his wife, Jane.

Running from June 5 through July 20, 2025, the exhibition traces how the language we carry—spoken, unspoken, imagined—shapes the course of our lives, offering a means to reauthor the self in moments of both fierce protection and quiet surrender, in pursuit of deeper becoming.

This show centers on the moments that define us—the decisions, disruptions, and relationships that shape identity in all its complexity. The featured art works engage with transformation, personal mythology, constructed identity, and the radical authorship of self in systems that have long erased, commodified, or distorted the female voice. If / Only / And / Then doesn’t seek resolution—it charts direction, carving out space through bold, deliberate acts of imagination.

Through diverse media, Langford, Pamintuan, and Volpone offer work that resists containment. Whether abstract, narrative, or conceptual, their practices ask how we locate ourselves—and each other—within shifting cultural landscapes. The exhibition invites viewers into an evolving dialogue about identity, memory, and possibility, offering a space where complexity is not only acknowledged but honored.

Celebrate CT Trails Day weekend! Meet at 201 Housatonic Ave. (parking lot across from ball fields) in New Milford at 10:00 AM on Saturday June 7th. On the road by 10:15 AM following Boardman Rd. north to the scenic Housatonic River along River Rd., Riverview Rd., Station Rd., Brown’s Forge Rd., Long Mountain Road, South Kent Rd., with a stop for refreshments at Gaylordsville Store. Then return to parking area. (approx 12.8 miles). The route is moderate difficulty due to some gravel roads and hills. Protective gear recommended as well as water or other hydration means. NEW MILFORD, CT — Village Center for the Arts (VCA) is proud to present "Crème de la Crème", a special exhibition honoring exceptional ceramic works created by student artists. The gala opening will take place on Saturday, June 7th, from 5:30 to 7:00 PM at VCA, with the exhibit on display for the entire month of June.

This event features works made by VCA students submitted to The National K–12 Ceramic Exhibition, held each year in conjunction with the NCECA (National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts) conference. Out of hundreds of national entries, between 120 and 150 pieces are selected annually to represent the best in student ceramics.

All student submissions are hand-selected and submitted by Sharon Kaufman, VCA Co-Founder and Pottery Studio Director. Each work chosen by Miss Sharon reflects a high level of craftsmanship, creativity, and artistic merit.

This year, VCA is proud to present every piece submitted to the national juror in this exclusive local showcase. During setup for the national exhibition, the juror noted that several unaccepted pieces would have been included if space had allowed—further affirming the exceptional quality of the students’ work.

For the past six years (excluding the COVID years), students from Village Center for the Arts have consistently earned spots in this highly competitive show—represented by between two and seven pieces each year.

“This show is called Crème de la Crème for a reason,” said Kaufman. “Each of these pieces truly stands at the top of what student ceramics can be. They deserve to be seen and celebrated.”

Compared to the work of David Sedaris, Claudia Shear and Augustin Burroughs, IT GOES WITHOUT SAYING is a uniquely crafted autobiographical tour-de-force in which Bill shares funny, heartbreaking, and unbelievable true stories from his career as an actor and mime, and his life-long exploration of the role silence plays in all our lives.

Marc's life has been about pursuing twin passions: creating, recording and performing his original songs and exploring the American West. He’s performed at Austin's SXSW Music Festival and the Kerrville Folk Festival and opened for Bob Dylan and other national acts and his antinuclear anthem The Last One was a staple of Richie Havens' concerts. Marc’s critically acclaimed album, RIDE, a collection of songs all having to do with the romance of the West has received national airplay and been licensed by STARBUCKS for worldwide in-store airplay. At this special concert, Marc will perform songs from the album and share some unforgettable stories about his experiences as an easterner in remote parts of the mountain and desert West.

Drawing from Django’s extensive recorded library as well as material from La Pompe Attack’s last two releases, these shows are hot jazz of the highest order. The Ridgefield Folk Concert Series is made possible by the generous support of the Friends of the Ridgefield Library.

Our annual Summer Great Works Concert will feature two of Mozart's most iconic choral works: his beloved Requiem and the lesser known Coronation Mass. The concert will take place on Sunday, June 8th, 2025, at 3 pm at St. John's Church in New Milford, CT.

The concert will be conducted by music director James Knox Sutterfield and will feature professional soloists and orchestra.

Parking is available on the street, behind the church, and at the public library across Whittlesey Avenue.

St. John’s in New Milford is wheelchair accessible at the side entrance on Whittlesey Ave. Accessible bathrooms are available on the same floor as the sanctuary.

We hope you will join us for the artist's reception on Saturday, April 26th from 2 pm – 4 pm, which is free and open to the public. We'll have art, conversation, and light refreshments. The show runs during our regular business hours 8:30 am – 5 pm Monday through Friday from April 14th – July 3, 2025.

Karen Neems is an artist based in Stamford, Connecticut who has had numerous solo and group exhibitions at galleries and museums in the Northeast. Last year, she was among ten photographic artists included in an exhibition called In/Sight at the Carriage Barn Arts Center in New Canaan. Whether she is creating collages digitally or cutting and pasting prints and other media, Neems says she chooses “to use photography to explore the relationships between images I observe and record, rather than for its documentary aspect.”

This casual monthly group will meet up to read classic and contemporary plays aloud. Our hope is to foster a collaborative environment and explore all types of theater.

The local Fairfield County Group of the AMC (Appalachian Mountain Club) has arranged a slide presentation by Dr. Nicholas Bellantoni. We will provide pizza & salad and beverages, and potluck appetizers & dessert.

All archaeological ruins in Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island have a cultural tale to tell. The ruins included in this presentation are associated with well-known hiking trails in Western CT and the Berkshires.

This presentation will also refer to a new book published by FalconGuides in April 2024, Hiking Ruins of Southern New England: A Guide to 40 Sites in Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island by Nick Bellantoni and Barbara Ann Kipfer.

Dr. Nicholas F. Bellantoni serves as the emeritus state archaeologist with the Connecticut State Museum of Natural History at the University of Connecticut. He received his doctorate in anthropology from UConn in 1987 and was shortly thereafter appointed state archaeologist. His duties primarily included the preservation of archaeological sites in the state. He serves as an Adjunct Associate Research Professor in the Department of Anthropology at UConn and resides as a former president of the Archaeological Society of Connecticut and President of the National Association of State Archaeologists. His research background includes forensic archaeology and faunal analysis from eastern North America. Nick is the author of several books written for the general public including: "The Long Journeys Home: The Repatriation of Henry Opukaha 'ia and Albert Afraid of Hawk", "And So The Tomb Remained: Exploring Archaeology and Forensic Science Within Connecticut's Historical Family Mausolea", "Archaeology Without Digging: Connecticut History Uncovered By Ground-Penetrating Radar", and most recently, "Hiking Ruins of Southern New England A Guide to 40 Sites in Connecticut, Massachusetts and Rhode Island".

The exhibition Karen Neems: Orchestrated Realities features digital and mixed-media collage artworks by Neems that contain "orchestrated realities and perceptual puzzles." We hope you will join us for the artist's reception on Saturday, April 26th from 2 pm – 4 pm, which is free and open to the public. We'll have art, conversation, and light refreshments. The show runs during our regular business hours 8:30 am – 5 pm Monday through Friday from April 14th – July 3, 2025.

Karen Neems is an artist based in Stamford, Connecticut who has had numerous solo and group exhibitions at galleries and museums in the Northeast. Last year, she was among ten photographic artists included in an exhibition called In/Sight at the Carriage Barn Arts Center in New Canaan. Whether she is creating collages digitally or cutting and pasting prints and other media, Neems says she chooses “to use photography to explore the relationships between images I observe and record, rather than for its documentary aspect.”

The Ridgefield Library is pleased to announce a new solo art show featuring the work of Dina Belyayeva, entitled The Travel Journal. This exhibit will be on view from May 16th through June 14th in the Lower Level Gallery.  

All are invited to meet the artist at the opening reception on Sunday, May 18th from 2:00-4:00 pm. Light refreshments will be served.

Dina Belyayeva is a New England-based, Russian-born contemporary realist painter. She is a member of art associations in Connecticut and Rhode Island. Her works received awards at competitive juried exhibitions and found homes in private collections in the US and internationally. Learn more.

Exhibition Statement:

Life is full of interesting twists and turns. We travel to far-away lands, trying to find inspiration and solace, travel with companions to share the joy of discovery, cross oceans to see the loved ones and run away from loss and sorrow. The cliché of enjoying the journey is as true as the significance of the destinations we reach and the places we see and experience. What we find in those places and in ourselves will be the invisible load that will shape the road ahead.

The Ridgefield Guild of Artists is pleased to mount a return of this show that features 5 artists selected by the juror, Tanya Pohrt, Curator of the Lyman Allyn Museum in New London. The five will share the three rooms in our galleries and present new work created for this show.

Anonymous Society is pleased to present If / Only / And / Then, a dynamic new exhibition featuring a dynamic new exhibition featuring work in painting, mixed

media, and ceramics by Sonja Langford (North Carolina / Connecticut), Faye Pamintuan (Philippines / Texas / New York), and Rachel Volpone (Connecticut). Running from June 5 through July 20, 2025, the exhibition traces how the language we carry—spoken, unspoken, imagined—shapes the course of our lives, offering a means to reauthor the self in moments of both fierce protection and quiet surrender, in pursuit of deeper becoming.

This show centers on the moments that define us—the decisions, disruptions, and relationships that shape identity in all its complexity. The featured art works engage with transformation, personal mythology, constructed identity, and the radical authorship of self in systems that have long erased, commodified, or distorted the female voice. If / Only / And / Then doesn’t seek resolution—it charts direction, carving out space through bold, deliberate acts of imagination.

Through diverse media, Langford, Pamintuan, and Volpone offer work that resists containment. Whether abstract, narrative, or conceptual, their practices ask how we locate ourselves—and each other—within shifting cultural landscapes. The exhibition invites viewers into an evolving dialogue about identity, memory, and possibility, offering a space where complexity is not only acknowledged but honored.

Having a bird-friendly yard can make for a beautiful view. While most people think immediately of bird feeders to attract birds, we'll discuss how enhancing your garden with native plants can attract birds and provide sustenance throughout the seasons.

Bring your questions for this insightful presentation! Please register to secure a spot.

Running your first 5K is 100% achievable, regardless of your fitness level, as long as you have patience, persistence, and motivation. Of course, it also helps to have a good training plan to follow.

Participants will train with a structured approach to gradually increasing their endurance and speed; ensuring you’re making steady progress toward your goal and a smile when you cross the finish line!

This program would help new runners get into the runner mindset and routine of being able to successfully participate in the New Milford Road Race in July.

Registration for this program also includes registration for the New Milford Road Race on Saturday, July 26th. You do NOT need to register for the road race separately.

Requirements: Comfortable clothing, sneakers and water

Sensory Saturday is a program designed for children (ages 4-12) with developmental disabilities, learning disabilities, those on the autism spectrum and their family members.

The program includes exploration in the galleries in a relaxed environment and the discovery of contemporary art through touch, sound, and movement. In The Studio, participants will engage in a hands-on art-making project inspired by the current exhibitions.

This workshop is for all the Swifties in our community! Join Andrea Dener and learn how to make colorful and fun friendship bracelets! Wear them around for a pop of color in the summer, or to Taylor's next gig! This 2 hour class is for ages 5-17. Any child under the age of 8 must have a guardian stay and help them with their bracelets! This workshop is $15 with an additional $10 materials fee paid to Andrea Dener the day of class. You are welcome to create as many bracelets as you can in the two hours you have! We can't wait to see what you create!
