7pm Wed June 4… Jazz Musician Michael Bard comes home to LaZingara! ENT physician by day…Sax man by night, Michael has been playing the saxophone just about his entire life! As an 8 year old he was bewitched by the sounds of the jazz greats, notably Charlie Parker, Dexter Gordon, John Coltrane, and Sonny Rollins, he knew then and there he wanted to get that sound. Michael has performed with the New York All-State Jazz Ensemble and The University of Michigan Jazz Group as well as several ensembles in the Ann Arbor area. Over the course of his career, he has performed with the Temptations, the rhythm and blues band, Incognito and has worked in groups with Phil Woods, trumpeter Tom Hagans and bassist Steve Laspina as well as study under the direction of saxophone greats Eric Alexander, Dave Tofani, Bob Sheppard and Joel Frahm. On June 4th expect to hear an eclectic mix of Bop, Afro-Cuban, Latin, Straight Ahead, Modern and Fusion jazz styles. He will be joined by some of the top jazz musicians of the Greater New York area who will bring their own talents and experiences to the concert.
