Exhibition: "America the Beautiful"
Anonymous Society is pleased to present If / Only / And / Then, a dynamic new exhibition featuring a dynamic new exhibition featuring work in painting, mixed
media, and ceramics by Sonja Langford (North Carolina / Connecticut), Faye Pamintuan (Philippines / Texas / New York), and Rachel Volpone (Connecticut). Running from June 5 through July 20, 2025, the exhibition traces how the language we carry—spoken, unspoken, imagined—shapes the course of our lives, offering a means to reauthor the self in moments of both fierce protection and quiet surrender, in pursuit of deeper becoming.
This show centers on the moments that define us—the decisions, disruptions, and relationships that shape identity in all its complexity. The featured art works engage with transformation, personal mythology, constructed identity, and the radical authorship of self in systems that have long erased, commodified, or distorted the female voice. If / Only / And / Then doesn’t seek resolution—it charts direction, carving out space through bold, deliberate acts of imagination.
Through diverse media, Langford, Pamintuan, and Volpone offer work that resists containment. Whether abstract, narrative, or conceptual, their practices ask how we locate ourselves—and each other—within shifting cultural landscapes. The exhibition invites viewers into an evolving dialogue about identity, memory, and possibility, offering a space where complexity is not only acknowledged but honored.
Join us at Anonymous Society for the opening reception on Thursday, June 5, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
Anonymous Society is an independent exhibition space committed to showcasing contemporary art that challenges convention, amplifies creative voices, and fosters critical dialogue.
Gallery hours are Thursdays and Fridays from 12 PM to 5 PM, Saturdays from 10 AM to 2 PM, or by appointment. For more information, visit www.anonymoussocietygallery.com or email info@anonymoussocietygallery.com.

As part of Poetry in the Garden's 2025 season, "Declarations 2025 - Resilience & Rage: Voices from Marginalized America," KTM&HC and Ridgefield Poet Laureate Emerita Barb Jennes are proud to host a series of poetry workshops in the month of July. Participants can learn, discuss, and create with some of the country's most prominent poetic voices.
On Monday, July 14, National Book Award winner Martin Espada's workshop will focus on the use of poetry to emphasize with, and advocate on behalf of, immigrants. From Martin: "We'll explore the reality that migrants share a common humanity with us. We'll dig down into our own immigrant histories and search for parallels with contemporary struggles. We'll confront the fact that, historically, the same people others would deport have always done the 'dirty work' in our country. We'll read poems and, not least, we'll write in the garden."
Workshops are open to writers of all experience levels/genres. Registration is limited to 25 participants per workshop, so reserve your spot early!
Tickets go on sale this spring. Special discounted rates are available for high school and college students - inquire at info@keelertavernmuseum.org.

Anonymous Society is an independent exhibition space committed to showcasing contemporary art that challenges convention, amplifies creative voices, and fosters critical dialogue.

media, and ceramics by Sonja Langford (North Carolina / Connecticut), Faye Pamintuan (Philippines / Texas / New York), and Rachel Volpone (Connecticut).

A three hour Martha Graham Technique Class & Creative Movement Study led by former Graham dancer Oliver Tobin.
Martha Graham Technique Class
This class introduces dancers to the foundational principles of the Martha Graham Technique, emphasizing core elements such as contraction and release, spiral, opposition, and the dynamic use of weight. Through floor work, standing exercises, and center combinations, participants will explore the expressive power and physicality of this iconic modern dance technique, building strength and artistry.
Creative Movement Study
This portion of the workshop explores creating movements and phrases inspired by gesture, incorporating key elements of the Graham Technique: contraction and release, opposition, shifts of weight, and fall and recovery.
Oliver Tobin is a former dancer with the Martha Graham Dance Company, where he performed leading roles in Appalachian Spring, Clytemnestra, Diversion of Angels, El Penitente, and Embattled Garden, among others. His off-Broadway acting credits include The Kentucky Cycle, The Lesser Magoo, Nirvanov, and Tallahassee. As a Regisseur of the Graham repertoire, Oliver has restaged and directed works such as Celebration, Diversion of Angels, Episodes, Panorama, and Maple Leaf Rag. In 2019, he reimagined and choreographed Martha Graham’s American Document (1938), which premiered in Los Angeles. As the Director of Teens@Graham, he developed and taught technique and choreography programs for NYC performing arts schools, including Talent Unlimited High School, Frank Sinatra School of the Arts, Bronx Dance Academy, Urban Assembly School of the Arts, and the Martha Graham School. As a dancer and cultural ambassador with Battery Dance company, Oliver led modern dance choreography workshops throughout Germany and Africa. He has also served on the faculty at Adelphi University, Kaatsbaan, LaGuardia High School, and The Martha Graham School. In 2016, Oliver was named Director of Martha Graham Resources, overseeing the archival process of Graham's extensive collection, including costumes, production elements, images, ephemera, and personal items from 1894 to 2021. He relocated the physical collection to its permanent home at the NYPL Dance Division in January 2020. Additionally, he implemented a digital database to provide global access to Graham's legacy, facilitating licensing projects across theaters, film, television, galleries, museums, and educational institutions. 🎭 Step into the rehearsal room—where the real drama unfolds.
In a small-town community center, five strangers gather for an acting class. As they play theater games and push their boundaries, buried secrets, quiet heartbreaks, and unexpected connections come to the surface.
Written by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Annie Baker, Circle Mirror Transformation is a masterful exploration of human vulnerability, the power of storytelling, and the unspoken moments that shape us. Under the direction of Gale Alexander, this intimate, poignant, and darkly humorous play invites audiences to witness the raw beauty of ordinary lives unfolding in extraordinary ways.

On Monday, July 21, ground-breaking poet Mark Doty's workshop will focus on the challenges and opportunities presented by being ourselves on the page. From Mark: "A deep paradox in American poetry lies in the fact that while LGBTQ+ individuals are generally thought of as outsiders, a glance at a list of major American poets - Whitman, Dickinson, Crane, Bishop, O'Hara, Swenson, Rich, Ashbery, and many more - reveals that we're an extraordinary mainstream. This tension is actually fruitful." Includes discussion and short writing exercises.
Workshops are open to writers of all experience levels/genres. Registration is limited to 25 participants per workshop, so reserve your spot early!
Tickets go on sale this spring. Special discounted rates are available for high school and college students - inquire at info@keelertavernmuseum.org.

Commemorate the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence with "Poetry in the Garden: Declarations 2025." Each Monday evening in July, nationally acclaimed poets will share works that explore how historically marginalized groups have been denied the Declaration of Independence's promise of equality and inalienable rights.
On July 21, we are proud to host two poets whose work explores the marginalization, expression, and resilience of LGBTQ+ Americans: Mark Doty—a National Book Award winner—and award-winning poet Trace Peterson. The winners of a poetry contest co-sponsored by Ridgefield PRIDE will also be presented. A Q&A session and book signing will follow.
Free for all! Bring a lawn chair or blanket to enjoy the readings, held in KTM&HC’s beautiful walled garden. In the event of inclement weather, the reading will move inside the Garden House. Ample parking on-site.
Poetry in the Garden 2025 is generously supported by Ridgefield Library, Books on the Common, The Fountain Inn, A.C.T. of Connecticut, and the Manhattanville University MFA in Creative Writing.
Mark Doty is the author of nine books of poetry, including Deep Lane, Fire to Fire: New & Selected Poems—winner of the 2008 National Book Award—and My Alexandria, which won the Los Angeles Times Book Prize, the National Book Critics Circle Award, and the T.S. Eliot Prize. The author of four best-selling memoirs, Doty has received two NEA fellowships, Guggenheim and Rockefeller Foundation Fellowships, a Lila Wallace/Readers Digest Award, and the Witter Byner Prize. He has taught at the University of Iowa, Princeton University, Sarah Lawrence College, Columbia University, Cornell, and NYU. In 2011, Doty was elected a Chancellor of the Academy of American Poets.
Trace Peterson's new collection The Valleys Are So Lush and Steep won the 2024 Alma Book Award from Saturnalia Books and is forthcoming this fall. Her first book, Since I Moved In, won the Gil Ott Award. Peterson co-edited the first-ever anthology of trans poetry Troubling the Line: Trans and Genderqueer Poetry and Poetics, a Finalist for a Lamda Literary Award. She is also editor of the small press EOAGH, winner of two Lamda Literary Awards and a National Jewish Book Award. Currently a Visiting Assistant Professor of English at UConn, Peterson has also taught at Yale, Emory, Hunter College, and the Jack Kerouac School at Naropa.
